LÉ James Joyce recover 5 dead bodies on rescue mission off coast of Libya

Irish navy vessel, LÉ James Joyce, recovered 5 dead bodies during a search and rescue today. Among those bodies was a heavily pregnant woman.

LÉ James Joyce saved 265 people northwest of Tripoli.

During the mission, 106 migrants were saved on the first vessel. The second vessel contained 164 migrants and several of those were in urgent need of medical attention.

Everyone on board are receiving medical attention by defense forces medical personnel and The Red Cross.

LÉ James Joyce has rescued almost 2000 people in total.
