British weather forecaster predicts that Ireland and the UK will be hit with a cold wintery snap that will bring snow and icy conditions within the coming weeks

According to another leading weather forecaster Ireland and Britain could soon be hit with a severe cold snap which will bring heavy snowfall and and icy conditions throughout December.

The British forecaster named Jonathan Powel of PWS (Public Weather Service UK) has echoed the same prediction as his Irish counterpart James Madden, by claiming that Ireland and Britain will indeed be hit with a severe cold snap in the coming weeks, saying: “Despite the relatively mild autumn weather in Britain and Ireland, the start to the meteorological winter and December is likely to be much more seasonal. “There are likely to be a number of quite potent wintry blasts in December that potentially bring the coldest and snowiest spell in some years for Ireland, particularly for two periods around the mid-month point and into the final third of the month and up to the New Year.”

Powel further explained: “The run-up to Christmas is therefore likely to see some significant changes to some exceptional cold and widespread snow events for many parts of the UK and Ireland, as cold winds veer in from the north and east.”
