Christmas is the time of year that you usually associate with having a fun time on the town with family and friends, however we all know that one person who seems to have one too many and suddenly becomes rowdy which subsequently means the fun is over and your night is ruined.
Well that may be become a thing of the past for residents in County Mayo this festive season as the County Council have come up with an ingenuous way to stamp out rowdy behaviour in pubs and nightclubs this Christmas. According to various reports party goers in pubs and nightclubs across the county will be handed free lollipops just before they make their way home in an attempt to prevent any trouble taking place on the streets later on. It is also believed that the lollipops will have messages printed on them saying ‘get home safely’ which Mayo County Council hope will encourage people not to drink and drive.
It is understood that Mayo County Council decided to introduce the scheme after it proved to be successful in the UK and Canada in the recent years.
