Los Angeles-bound Aer Lingus flight forced to divert after engine shuts down during take off




Aer Lingus flight EI145, bound for Los Angeles, was forced to declare an emergency after one of its engines failed during take-off.

The aircraft diverted to Shannon Airport and circled the airport to burn fuel.

Engine failure events are relatively common, and flight crews are well trained to deal with such incident.

The flight landed safely just after 16.30.
