A number of homeless men were forced to make a quick exit from a burning building on Wednesday morning in Drogheda, County. Louth.
It’s believed that at least two men were inside the derelict building on Duke St in the centre of the town when it caught fire on Wednesday morning.
One local man who knows the area well and witnessed the men make the escape told The Liberal:
“I saw two men escape from the second floor of the building and climb down to safety. Thank God no one was seriously hurt, it could have been a lot worse”.
It’s understood the men were sleeping rough in the derelict building and just adds to the fury that so many feel when they think about over 8,000 people in similar situations around the country.
