Madness: Dublin may soon see restrictions or bans on driving your diesel vehicle through the city

More nanny State nonsense may soon see restrictions and taxes on driving your diesel vehicle through Dublin.

Cities such as London, Mexico, Paris, Athen and even Amsterdam have announced restrictions, taxes and even bans on driving diesel vehicles through their cities.

Congestion charges, low-emission zones and free air pollution zones have been potentially earmarked for the capital by Minister for Climate Action and the Environment Denis Naughten.

Diesel tax is about 11 cent less than petrol tax, and the Government’s interdepartmental Tax Strategy Group has already recommended increasing diesel tax by a further 2.2 cent a year until 2021 to make it the same price as Tax.

Mr Naughten has already told an environmental conference that air pollution in the Republic was costing the State €3,800 per minute in health costs.

This push of political correct madness will inevitably only have repercussions at the ballot box for any politicians who pushes it through.
