Emergency services attended a major fire in a hotel on the Roscommon/Leitrim border where migrants were due to be housed.
It’s understood that the fire broke out at the Shannon Key West hotel in Rooskey where a number of Syrian migrants were shortly due to be housed.
Fire services attended the scene at 8:15pm and got the blaze under control. It’s not yet known how it got started.
However, it’s understood from a local who informed The Liberal that extensive damage has been done to the hotel and that it will more than likely be unfit for purpose for migrants to stay there in now.
A major garda investigation is now said to be underway to determine the cause of the blaze.
