Matteo Salvini, leader of Italy’s Lega Nord party and favourite to be the country’s next Prime Minister after the March general election has said that his personal political inspirations are Donald Trump and Hungarian PM Victor Orban.
Both of whom are considered extremely hostile by the EU elites.
Salvini had recently remarked in an tv debate that the EU can “go f**k itself” and criticised the Bloc for its anti-democratic imposition of a technocratic government during the economic crisis and has condemned Brussels migrant policy which has disproportionately affected the country.
It is feared that if Italy does elect a right wing Eurosceptic government it could band with the likes of Hungary, Czech Republic, Austria and Poland to challenge the EU’s pro-mass migration stance and move to centralise more power in Brussels.
