Gardaí in Dublin have confirmed that a 58 year old man has been released without charge following an attack on a Garda officer in Carrickmines over the weekend.
It is understood the man who has since been released, was questioned after a member of the Gardai was rushed to Tallaght Hospital in Dublin, after he sustained serious head injuries during an attack with a baseball bat.
The attack which which also seen another officer injured after they were bitten by a dog, occurred when Garda officers carried out a search at premises in Carrickmines, Dublin, on Saturday evening.
It is believed that a large crowd began gathered at the scene before a number of officers were attacked.
Following the man’s release a Garda spokesman said investigations were still ongoing and a file has been prepared for the Director of public prosecutions.
