A man has been seriously injured in Hawaii after a lava rock expelled from an active volcano shattered his leg.
According to local media reports, the man who was sitting on a balcony at his home was hit by the rock after the molten lava from the Kilauea volcano projected the rock into the air.
The horrific injury comes after the latest eruption from the volcano which occurred at the beginning of May has left residents living on the Big island fearing the worst.
Although the man did not suffer any life threatening injuries, it is believed he suffered a serious injury to his leg as the some lava rocks can weigh as heavy as a refrigerator.
