Man in California shows his honesty after he returned a bag he found containing $125,000

A man in California has been praised for his honesty after returned a bag he found on the street  containing $125,000 (€91,000).

Joe Cornell who is currently unemployed, was volunteering at the local Salvation Army in Fresno, California when he saw an orange bag fly off the back of a security truck.

Mr Cornell went to retrieve the bag, as he was checking the bag he discovered that there was  thousands of dollars inside – €91,000 ($125,000), to be exact.

Speaking to local TV station KMPH,
Joe told reporters he had only $1 for lunch that day but added he didn’t hesitate to turn the money over to the authorities.
“I thought ‘what type of man do I want my grandkids to think I am?,” said Cornell.
“I want them to think I’m a just man that does the right thing and I did the right thing.”

Mr Cornell has been rewarded for his honesty he received a $5,000 dollar reward from the owners of the security truck, The Brinks Company.

Joe’s wife, Virginia, found out what happened she burst into tears as she was so proud of him for giving the money back even with them struggling financially.
“We are going to use the money to pay off my rent and pay off my truck so we can get out of the hole. This is like a new start for us”.
