A man died, and a woman is in a critical condition in hospital today, after the car they were travelling hit a tree overnight.
The incident happened shortly before 4am in Woodcock Hill, Meelick, Co. Clare.
The male was pronounced dead at the scene, and the woman was rushed to University Hospital Limerick in a critical condition.
