Man proclaimed as “hero” on social media after cutting M50 toll’s camera cables which cost the private company over €100,000 yesterday

One man really wanted to show his destain to the private company that allegedly pulls in €200,000 a DAY on Dublin’s M50 toll motorway.

Gardai confirmed they arrested a man yesterday who climbed the gantry and cut the cables attached to the cameras and sensory equipment over the northbound lane at 9.30pm Friday night.

Emergency services were called and they closed the M50 while gardaí talked the man down and who they then subsequently left the gantry and was then arrested.

The 48-yr-old man appeared in court yesterday and being charged for damaging the tolling system as part of a protest.

Many people on social media are lauding him for his efforts over what is being described as another immoral tax.

The man was simply called “hero” and “M50 hero”. What’s your thoughts on what he did?
