Management at Dublin’s Mater Hospital have issued a statement to the public urging them to attend their GP before attending the hospital’s accident and emergency department.
The warning comes after the hospital experienced an overcrowding crisis today with a number of people being left to wait in trolleys.
A spokesperson for the hospital said: “We are asking the public, where possible, to attend their GP in the first instance, or the Rapid Injury Clinic in Smithfield for minor injuries.”
