Police in Mississippi have launched a manhunt after two young children were shot in car whilst sitting outside a hospital on Thursday.
According NBC News, the manhunt comes after the two injured were seriously injured in the incident which happened outside the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
Police say a 1-year-old child was shot in the leg and that a 3-year-old child was shot in the chest during the incident.
Although thankfully their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, the children were seriously injured in the occurred at 5:30pm local time.
It is understood that the children were shot when a person pulled up beside the car and opened fire.
Police say they do not know why the shooting occurred, but they are currently searching for a black Nissan sedan car.
It is reported that the children’s mother who was with them at the time of the shooting managed to get them out of the vehicle and ran into a nearby car park.
Police say the woman was uninjured in the incident.
