Gardaí from Kilrush are investigating after the body of a man was discovered on the banks of the Shannon Estuary in Co.Clare.
The Irish Coast Guard raised the alarm after spotting the body at Colmanstown near Labasheeda at 5 pm earlier this evening when they were on the way to a training exercise.
Kilrush RNLI and The Kilkee Coastguard Unit were called to the scene to help.
The body was removed to University Hospital Limerick for a post-mortem examination.
