Mayo man arrested in connection to attack on Dublin GAA star

Johnny-Cooper

A 31-year-old Mayo man, Mark Lavelle,  has been arrested in relation to a knife attack on Dublin GAA star Johnny Cooper last month.

On September 20, at Dorset Street Upper, Johnny was attacked by Lavelle, and rushed to the Mater Hospital. Stitches were needed following the attack.

The Mayo man claimed that he could not remember the incident  and due to the fact that the government took his medical card he could not take his medication.

Lavelle was charged with assault and causing harm to the footballer. No bail application was being made.

Nothing has been decided yet if the case will be handled at a district court level or sent to the Circuit Court.
