There have been two confirmed cases of measles in north Dublin over the past 48 hours.
The Department of Health have confirmed that two seperate cases of measles have been reported at a north Dublin hospital on Friday.
In a response to the outbreak a Department spokesperson has confirmed that an emergency warning has been issued to A&E departments in counties Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow.
They also say a specialised quarntine unit has been sent to the hospital in order to stem the spread of the potentially fatal illness.
Although cases are fairly rare in Ireland the HSE has said it has moved swiftly and implemented all precautionary measures in order to stop any potential outbreak.
