The HSE have now confirmed that at least 20 cases of the measles have been reported in Limerick City.
In an update on Monday the HSE say the vast majority of the cases reported were that of children presenting with symptoms.
Although an outbreak control team has been sent to the region, the HSE are urging the public to make sure they are vaccinated and to get the vaccine if they’re have not already done so.
It is understood nine of the cases were children aged between 0-5 years old, whilst eleven other cases were amongst children aged 15-34.
The HSE also say most of those diagnosed with the illness were admitted to hospital.
