Met Eireann issue yellow staus wind warning for 9 counties as winds with 110kph are expected to hit later today

Met Éireann have issued a yellow status wind warning as high winds are expected to batter the North and West of the country.

The latest warning comes as a sudden change in the weather is expected over the coming days.

Met Éireann say the warning will remain in place from 8pm this evening until 9am tomorrow morning.

The high winds with speeds of 55 to 65 kph and gusts of 90 to 110 kph will hit most of Connacht, whilst counties Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal and Clare will also be affected.

It is expected that heavy showers will sweep across the country on Wednesday with temperatures ranging from 15-20c.
