The national forecaster has issued an Orange alert for heavy rainfall expected on Bank Holiday Monday.
Motorists are warned of potentially treacherous driving conditions at times tomorrow, worst in the Midlands, west and northwest of the country, with some localised flooding possible.
The heavy showers will die out towards evening, giving way to another fine day on Tuesday, with temperatures forecast to hit 25C for most of the coming week.
