Mild high: Ireland deemed one of the warmest countries in Europe this weekend with temperatures topping 15C

It is not often you hear that Ireland is warmer than most of Europe, but today forecasters say the Emerald Isle is currently warmer than countries in the Mediterranean.

With temperatures topping a rather pleasant 15C and with sunny spells throughout, Ireland was deemed one of the warmest countries in Europe this weekend.

It seems the spell of good weather is set to continue until well into the week with temperatures expected to remain pretty much the same.

Speaking today a forecaster for Met Eireann said the country will experience the same mild weather on Sunday, saying: “It will be rather cloudy and misty in the southeast and along parts of the east coast, with some patches of drizzle and fog for a time.”

“But drier and brighter elsewhere, with some sunny spells and top temperatures 12C to 15C, in mainly light, southerly or variable breezes.”
