There was good news for children who suffer from scoliosis, as the Minister for Health Simon Harris has confirmed that the new operating theatre for the treatment of the illness is to open at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin, this coming April.
Mr Harris, confirmed the news in the Dáil last night after meeting with the CEO of Crumlin Hospital. Making the announcement minister Harris said he was “pleased to announce” the opening.
The confirmation of the opening comes in week of controversy for the hospital, after RTÉ Investigates programme found that patient waiting lists were much higher than expected.
It is believed that the new theatre once opened, will carry out 194 spinal operations in 2017.
