Just like the droning noise of an open tap, the water charges saga continues.

Yesterday, former Minister for the Environment Alan Kelly claimed that water charges cannot be legally scrapped, despite mounting evidence to the contrary.

Today, Simon Coveney said that the water charges are ‘very unlikely to return’ in their previous form, but that water still needs to be paid for.

Water charges remain suspended, pending a review by an “expert” commission which is currently examining the issue of funding water services. A report is expected by the end of November.
