Authorities investigating the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 say that they have found irrefutable evidence that a Russian-made weapon system launched the missile that struck the aircraft.
Flight MH17 came down over war-torn eastern Ukraine on July 17, 2014. All 298 people on board perished.
Investigators have pinpointed the weapon platform involved in the incident as a Russian-made Buk system that was part of a convoy deployed in an area occupied by Moscow-backed rebels. The unit was reportedly attached to Russia’s 53rd Anti-Aircraft Brigade.
Investigators have stopped short of naming any individual/s who may have been responsible for actually firing the weapon, but say that up to 100 people are ‘persons of interest.’
