There has been mixed views on the Pro Life peaceful protest that took place yesterday morning outside Our Lady Of Lourdes hospital in Drogheda (video from one Pro Life protester is below).

A group of pro life campaigners are staged what is being described as a “peaceful but determined” protest this morning against an abortion which is reportedly due to take place in Our Lady Of Lourdes hospital in Drogheda today.

Louth’s local radio, LMFM reported protest was underway with pro life campaigners holding signs reading “Let him be born” and “Let her be born”.

This protest came on the foot of a text message that circulated around Co. Louth and beyond over the weekend which read:

“The first abortion in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda is scheduled for first thing tomorrow morning, Monday 7th. The priests in Drogheda have asked for prayers that the woman will have a change of heart and not go through with the procedure”

At 10:30am mass yesterday morning in St. Mary’s Church, Drogheda, the priest announced during offertory prayers that an abortion was to take place in Our Lady Of Lourdes Hospital on Monday morning and asked for prayers.

It’s understood that there was an extremely strong Pro Life eulogy given out to parishioners attending Christmas mass services in the Church which is understood to have been well received in the town.

The age of the baby due to be aborted is not known but this latest story is unlikely to deter pro-life campaigners who have been planning awareness events outside hospitals where abortions are due to take place.

It’s understood that a number of very active Pro Life groups were made aware of the abortion due to take place in Our Lady Of Lourdes hospital and filtered the information out through their vast social media networks.

A number of Pro Life groups have sworn never to give up fighting abortion in Ireland, no matter what it takes and took to a protest this morning.

Here you can see one of the Pro Life activists, Charles Byrne explaining why he was outside Our Lady Of Lourdes hospital yesterday and that he and his colleagues will never give up:
