Monster surgeon who carried out unnecessary mastectomies on vulnerable women is jailed for 15 years




A former leasing breast surgeon in the UK has been sentenced to spend 15 years in prison today after he was found guilty of wounding with intent.

The surgeon at the centre of the case Dr Ian Patterson was given the the lengthy sentence after he was found guilty of 17 counts of wounding with intent and 3 counts of unlawful wounding.

Dr Patterson who is described as a monster came under investigation over the past year after a number of patients made complaints against his practice.

The disgraced surgeon also carried out a number of mastectomies on vulnerable women from 1997-2011 at Little Aston and Parkway Hospitals who didn’t need them in order to boost his earnings.

During the lengthy trial at Nottingham Crown Court the judge and jury heard testimony from dozens of Patterson’s distraught victims, who have said their lives have been changed for ever as result of his horrendous actions.
