More bad weather to come as the country is set to be battered by ‘The Pest from the West’ over the weekend

The country may still be recovering from the Beast from the East this week as massive clean operations have already begun. But for anyone who may have been thinking we are over the worst, forecasters have unfortunately given us some more bad news as The Pest from the West is about to hit our shorelines this coming weekend.

Following a week that has left many of us longing for the summer, forcasters both here and the UK have said the Irish and British isles will be subjected to more miserable weather conditions as another storm sweeps up from the Atlantic.

Although the country is unlikely to see heavy flurry’s of snowfall this time around, we have been warned to expect heavy rainfall and high winds ranging between 60kmph to 100kmph over the weekend.

It is thought that the latest spell of bad weather which will arrive on Friday is the result of a low pressure system coming in from the South West.

Forcasters say that although Southern regions will see mostly rainfall, Northern regions could yet see further snowfall as high winds combined with low temperatures will cause a major shift in the weather pattern on Friday.

They also say Sunday will be the worst day as the brunt of the storm is expected to hit it’s peak with winds expected to be well above 60kmph.

The risk of flooding is also increased as 5 to 10mm of rainfall is expected through the course of the weekend.
