An African born man who joined the British Army is currently suing the UK Ministry of Defence after he contracted a cold while training.
Michael Asiamah is suing for £150,000 in damages after he claims that army officers failed to provide him with protection against the British winter weather during an 18-hour training exercise.
Asimah (36) has claimed that people of African and Caribbean decent should be given special treatment as they are more susceptible to illness due to cold weather.
During the exercises which took place in March 2016 Asimah alleges that army authorities neglected to instruct him to bring warm clothes such as gloves.
Asimah has claimed in court papers that he experiences adverse symptoms in weather under 15 degrees centigrade.
