More questions raised: Simon Harris reveals that a significant number of cases weren’t included in CervicalCheck audit

The Minister for Health Simon Harris has revealed that more women could be affected by the ongoing CervicalCheck scandal.

In announcement made in the Dáil late last Minister Harris who has received a full briefing on the case, revealed that he has received some information that suggests that more women could be affected by the ongoing controversy.

Speaking in the Dáil Mr Harris told fellow cabinet ministers that the latest developments have revealed that a number of reported cases of women with cervical cancer gave not been included in the official audit.

The announcement which comes less than a week after it was revealed that 208 women have been affected by the issue, now means more women across the country could be affected.

Although Mr Harris has said the issue is alarming, he did reiterate that the cases relate to women who have already been diagnosed with cervical cancer and they weren’t new cases of cancer that have been reported.
