The Governor of the Central Bank, Philip Lane, has confirmed today that most of the 13,000 customers affected by the Tracker mortgage scandal will be repaid by Christmas.
According to Mr. Lane, banks have paid out some 160m already, but this only represents a fraction of the total amount due.
Chiming in on the issue, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said that banks may face further actions if they don’t pay up on time.
The Tracker mortgage scandal caused untold hardship and misery on thousands of families, with some ending up homeless over the issue.
