Motorists have been warned to exercise extreme caution on the roads over the next 48 hours, as deep cold is likely to create treacherous conditions nationwide.
Temperatures are expected to dip to -2C or -3C, with widespread frost formation expected.
The low temperatures are also likely to cause patches of dangerous black ice, specially around sheltered areas.
A Status Yellow warning for snow and ice remains in place.
