Motorists advised to take “extreme care” as the coldest night of the year leave treacherous road conditions

Motorists are being advised that roads, in particular B roads, will be extremely treacherous until midday tomorrow.

Met Eireann say that tonight will be coldest night of the year so far with temperatures hovering below freezing.

Snow is expected on high lying ground with a “hard frost” forecast for roads. The AA and gardai have advised motorists to be extremely vigilante – especially up until midday as council workers may not have reached all roads, particularly B roads.

There is good news however – the weather is set to pick up slightly from Sunday.
