Motorists are being advised to take extra care on the roads this morning after widespread heavy rainfall overnight.
In a brief statement Met Eireann are advising motorists to proceed with caution as excess water may still be on roads in the East of the country.
The warning comes after the vast majority of Leinster experienced heavy rainfall and some flooding on Monday.
Although drier conditions are expected later today, the national forecaster say roads could be treacherous with some places particularly in the south east seeing some localised flooding.
They also say foggy condition are expected in the early hours of this morning.
