Gardaí in Co Waterford have confirmed that a murder investigation is underway following death of a man in Portlaw, on Thursday.
The investigation comes after the man aged in his 50s was found seriously injured at council house on the Coolfin estate at approximately 2.45pm on Thursday afternoon.
Gardaí say they believe the man was murder after it emerged he was involved in a row with another man aged in his 20s.
It is understood that the victim suffered serious injuries and was quickly rushed to University Hospital Waterford, but he was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.
Officers investigating the incident say a man aged in his 20s has been arrested in connection with the incident and he is currently being detained at Tramore Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
