The man arrested at a desert compound in Arizona with 11 starving and abused children is Muslim extremist Siraj Wahhaj, who was training the children in the use of firearms in order to carry out mass school shootings, The Daily Mail reports.
Nine of the 11 children rescued by police were Wahhaj’s and his wife, Jany Leveille’s children and all were aged between one and 15 years old. One of the children, Wahhaj’s three-year-old son, is believed to be dead after remains of a young child were found in the compound.
Three other adults have been arrested and charged as part of the ongoing investigation, CNN reports.
Wahhaj’s father, a prominent New York Imam and the leader of Muslim Alliance of North America says he “baffled” about the events leading to this tragedy, Global News reported.
