Nationwide snow and ice warning in effect for the next 24 hours

Snowy-weather-003

The next 24 hours will remain bitterly cold everywhere, and a snow and ice warning will be in place during that period.

Met Éireann has issued a “status orange” warning due to hail, sleet and snow in the west and north-west.

Up to 8cm of snow is likely to fall on high ground in Connacht and particularly in west Ulster.

A separate yellow alert is in effect for Leinster, Cork, Tipperary and Waterford, with up to 4cm of snow expected in parts.

Motorists are also advised to drive with caution, as road conditions will be hazardous countrywide.
