New changes to the domestic violence Bill passed in the Dáil

The Dáil have officially passed a new law that will see the domestic violence Bill have a number of new amendments.

Under the new laws domestic violence will now be officially recognised as an emotional and psychological and physical crime.

The Bill which will be officially signed into law President Higgins tomorrow, will allow victims to have greater access in the courts.

It will also recognise the violence between partners as an offence.

The Bill is expected to be fast tracked through the Seanad tomorrow.
