New first time buyers Bill officially introduced in the Dáil – despite strong opposition from Fianna Fáil

The new Bill that will help first time buyers was officially introduced in the Dáil last night despite strong opposition from Fianna Fáil.

The new legislation that will see the Government give an income tax rebate to those wishing to buy a new home was introduced by the Finance Minister Michael Noonan last night, although there were no amendment’s to the scheme.

It is understood Fianna Fáil are against the €600,000 threshold allocated for buyers, saying it is exceptionally high and does not properly target limited taxpayer resources. However the party say they will not bring the Government down over the issue, even though they don’t think it’s the right policy.
