No Get Away For Enda: Enda Kenny cuts short his St Patricks Day U.S. visit as his political career hangs in the balance




The caretaker Taoiseach Enda Kenny has revealed that he will only have a short St Patrick’s Day visit to the US next week.

The news comes as the former Taoiseach is battling for to stay in power, Mr Kenny’s normal seven day programme which was cut down to two, will now be even cut further down to just one day. The decision for a shortened visit is due the fact that Mr Kenny failed to be re-elected Taoiseach, and reports suggest he will only attend the events in the White House on Tuesday, March 15, before he travels back to Ireland. Meanwhile the Department of An Taoiseach has revealed that the Minister for Foreign Affairs Charlie Flanagan will now replace Mr Kenny at events on Wednesday.

Mr Kenny, who is currently in the amidst of a political battle to retain his position as leader of Fine Gael, is said to be eager not to be away for such an extended period of time.
