The water charges argument is still wrangling on and it shows no signs of stopping and now it seems there would not be enough money to refund people who have already paid their water charges according to Sinn Fein.
The party made the admittion after they said if they are in power they would not chase people for bills they have not already paid. The party also say that water charges need to be scrapped as the public have spoken, and they would vote in favour of any bill that abolishes the unruly charges.
However party TD Eoin Ó Broin has stated that people who have already paid their bills will not be getting their money back Mr Ó Broin said: “What we’re saying is the charge has to be scrapped. “We wouldn’t be pursuing people for arrears, but unfortunately we don’t believe the money is there to repay people who have already paid.
He added: “We have been very clear from the start, we wouldn’t because we don’t believe the money is there, to pay people back who had paid up until the abolition of the charges.”
