The French Government have passed a new legislation that will see parents banned from smacking their children.
In a move which was overwhelmingly passed in the French parliament, corporal violence has been outlawed.
The new laws will now mean parents will have to punish their children without violence of any sort – including physical, verbal or psychological acts.
It is believed that the law was overwhelmingly passed by Government ministers who voted 51-1 in favour to ban corporal punishment.
