North Korean borders will reportedly be closed to foreigners on tourist trips from Friday, citing fears of Ebola spread.

Gareth Johnson, of Young Pioneer Tours, a travel company in China that runs tours to North Korea, made the announcement. Other travel agents that organize tours to the same area later confirmed the news, which are said to have come through official channels.

Even though no cases of Ebola have been reported in the secretive country, North Korea is known for shutting off its borders over health concerns.

It is not known at this point how long will the closure be in effect.

The current Ebola outbreak has so far killed nearly 5,000 people worldwide, mostly in West Africa. A vaccine is reportedly being worked on, but it is not certainwhen and in what quantity it will be available.
