Not even one drink – Shane Ross’s new drink driving bill will see people losing their driving licence if they take just one drink

The Minister for Transport Shane Ross has introduced a bill – that he actually managed to vote against himself – will now see anyone with an alcohol level of more than 50mg will lose their driving licence.

It’s going to full steam clampdown and it’s down to Ross.

The problem that people have with the bill is that in rural Ireland, older people can’t even have one drink in their local pub and drive home.

Rural communities see a lot of elderly bachelors drinking one pint of Guinness on a Friday or Saturday night and socialising with their community neighbours.

Ross has been put down as a “D4 stiff” by one rural barman we spoke with. He told The Liberal:
“He has absolutely no idea what goes on in rural Ireland. Ross and 100k salary has his own driver, if he only knew the isolation he was causing, he probably still wouldn’t care.”
