The Minister for Transport Shane Ross has demanded that a full stop to driving after having even one drink be imposed.
However he has given no evidence for his claims that people are impaired even after having half a pint and driving.
The TD said he thinks 3 points is too lenient and wants people to be banned from driving if they even had half a pint.
Rural TDs have given Ross more than he can handle by demanding evidence that people are impaired after one drink.
They also said many people who get a taxi home and drive to work the next day will be banned from driving as alcohol will still be in their system.
Ross is said to not even be interested in hearing about rural people’s stories about being stranded in remote areas after having half a pint.
