According to new a survey carried out by AA Ireland over half of the country’s motorists say their premiums are still to continuing to rise, despite recent figures released by the CSO suggesting otherwise.

The survey which was carried by the AA Ireland, found that of the 4,000 motorists questioned, 54% agreed that their premium had risen since their last renewal.

Although the CSO say the average cost of motor insurance premiums has fallen by 12.8% in the past year, Irish motorists across the country have claimed they are still being hit with hefty premiums.

The latest figures come as many motorists have complained that their premium has risen by as much as 25% in the past three years despite the recent decrease.

It is thought that the recent fall in premium prices is based on an overall aggregate score, meaning that although some premiums may have fallen they still remain considerably higher than what the average motorist was paying before the year 2015.
