Minister for the Environment Alan Kelly has said this morning that there’s nothing ‘harsh’ in the new set of charges and water-related measures due to be unveiled today, including penalties.

The minister attended a special Cabinet meeting earlier today. The new set of measures will be announced at the Dáil at 3pm.

Mr. Kelly also said ‘We feel that reasonable people are going to come in with us as a result of what I’m going to announce today.’ He went on to say that people will be ‘proud of Irish Water in years to come.’

The minister has reportedly received a second threat to his life today. Someone allegedly told Mr. Kelly over the phone that ‘he’d be shot before the end of the day.’
