A new nuclear power plant worth £16 billion has gotten the go ahead in Somerset in the UK – 100 miles from the coast of South East Ireland.
The European Union regulators gave the go ahead this morning in what was said to be a very tight vote in favour of the South West of England’s new super power station.
“Yes, it’s agreed, the power plant is going ahead. It was a tight vote but yes won.” a regulator said.
The project will be built by French utility EDF at Hinkley Point, and the plan is to replace a fifth of Britain’s ageing nuclear power and coal plants, and to export to France.
