Nurses Strike action called off at the eleventh hour after INMO and the HSE reach an agreement

It has been reported late last night that the scheduled Nurses strike action at a number of Emergency Departments across the country has been called off at the eleventh hour after an agreement was reached.

The late announcement came after the HSE and the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation held a number of talks throughout the day in the hope that an agreement could be reached. The scheduled strike action will now not happen today after the INMO agreed to call off the scheduled 2 hour rolling stoppages, it is now believed the INMO will ballot its members on a set of proposals agreed at the Workplace Relations Commission.

The news comes as Nurses had voted overwhelmingly in favour of strike action, over staffing levels at hospitals. However despite the late agreement, hundreds of non-emergency procedures will not go ahead due cancelations.
