A late-night agreement to hire 70 additional nurses across University Hospital Limerick, Ennis, Nenagh and Croom Orthopaedic Hospitals, plus 39 new personnel at Naas General Hospital, has averted the industrial action scheduled for today.
The talks, conducted under the guidance of the Labour Relations Commission, concluded with a successful outcome after two separate hearings.
The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organization (INMO) has also recommended an ‘agressive’ recruitment drive so that all posts can be filled as soon as possible.
